A Deeper Look – Interior Signage Package

The Primary Children's and Families' Cancer Research Center at Huntsman Cancer Institute

Original existing signage design at Huntsman Cancr Institute. The Huntsman Cancer Institute wanted the interior signage for The Primary Children’s and Families’ Cancer Research Center at Huntsman Cancer Institute to have a very strong design correlation to the existing interior signage at the Huntsman Cancer Institute so the new facility would feel connected to the original Huntsman Cancer Institute facility.

Updated signage design for The Primary Children’s and Families’ Cancer Research Center at Huntsman Cancer Institute.  Our team recreated the fabric that was sandwiched between pieces of acrylic into a graphic digital vector file.  The graphic image of the fabric was then printed directly on to a piece of acrylic for the backplate.  We moved the room number from on top of the fabric pattern due to ADA (American with Disabilities Act) standards as those with vision limitations struggle to read the number when placed on patterns and not enough contrast to the background.  For the stair signage in the above picture the sign face is 1/8″ photopolymer material laminated to 1/8″ thick black acrylic and the communication information is all Tactile with the Stair Identification and Room Identification having the braille communication information directly underneath them.  We updated the metal pieces with just one stainless steel bar with the Huntsman logo screen printed on it as a branding element.

Sign specification detail drawing describing how each sign will be constructed for clients review and approval. Stippich Design created a sign drawing for each type of sign during the programming and sign location planning phase.

After each sign type specification detail drawing a message and location drawing is included for the client to review how each sign will look and verify if the message is correct for each location.
