Huntsman Cancer – Oncology Certified Nurses Recognition Plaques

About This Project

Huntsman Cancer Institute’s mission is to understand cancer from its beginnings, to use that knowledge in the creation and improvement of cancer treatments, to relieve the suffering of cancer patients, and to provide education about cancer risk, prevention, and care.

Stippich Design collaborated with Huntsman Cancer Hospital and Huntsman Cancer Institute to develop and design Oncology Certified Nurses recognition plaques to be placed at Huntsman Cancer institutions and clinics. In the early meetings on what would need to be included on the plaque our design team was given the branding for Certified Nurses Day which is March 19th of every year to celebrate nurses that have gone through the process of getting their certifications. We worked collaboratively to incorporate that branding in a cohesive manner with recognition materials located in the hospital which often times was big greenish hued glass plates with recognition information plates placed on them. To achieve this look in a budget conscious way our design team came up with the solution of printing on vinyl that resembled the color of the glass and applying it to a quarter inch thick piece of clear acrylic. A second piece of acrylic was then placed on top of it which had the white vinyl “Certification Makes a Difference” message applied to the front. These acrylic pieces were mounted to the wall using stand offs to resemble other glass pieces throughout the buildings. We had developed and designed metal brackets for the donor recognition and incorporated that bracket to hold a printed insert to recognize the nurses which then had an eighth inch piece of protective clear acrylic in front of it.
